A culture of access, built campus-wide

The Digital Accessibility Center is dedicated to ensuring that all members of our community can access digital resources without barriers. We collaborate with faculty, staff, and developers to enhance course content so every user can independently and fully engage with required materials.

Our center actively monitors and supports institutional compliance with federal accessibility laws. We provide essential guidance to web and application developers, helping them make their platforms meet accessibility standards — from initial design through procurement and deployment.

Through education on best practices and dedicated support services, we empower faculty and staff to create and deliver inclusive digital content across campus. Workshops, on-demand resources, and one-on-one consultation are all available at no cost.

We also prioritize sustainability and capacity building by building strategic partnerships with campus leadership, student-facing services, and those responsible for the academic mission. Together, we foster a culture of access that benefits every member of the Longhorn community.

With our engaged staff and teams of graduate and undergraduate students, the DAC cultivates future leaders in accessibility — serving as the catalyst for a campus-wide commitment to digital access for all.

Digital Accessibility Policy

The Digital Accessibility Policy reaffirms UT Austin's commitment to an accessible digital environment. The policy applies to all digital resources used for University business and instruction and aligns with current federal regulations, including:

ADA Section 508 WCAG 2.1 AA Effective March 2026

This policy is a co-sponsored effort between the Digital Accessibility Center within Enterprise Technology (ET) and Institutional Accessibility and Accommodation (IAA) within University Risk and Compliance Services (URCS).

EIR & Procurement

Electronic & Information Resources

UT Austin requires accessibility compliance for all procured digital products and EIR. VPAT documentation is required for applicable purchases. The DAC provides guidance on accessibility requirements, how to evaluate vendor submissions, and how to request compliance exceptions.
